The stairs, with the Blake bust, and seventeenth century armour at the top.
The object at the top left is a stair finial from Sydenham House.
More of the display in the preceding room. The ornate carved
mantel and brick fireplace were removed when the room was
extended in the 1950s. The cast iron crest from the first town
bridge, the carved wooden crest above the fireplace and early
bicycle are still displayed.
Part of the display in the room to the right of the entrance. In the
foreground is the base of a cheese press. To the rear left are the gaol
bells on their wooden stand. To the rear right are the collection of
Friendly Society staves, which have been, sadly, now removed from
their heads. In the middle is one of the Borough Councillors' chairs.
A set of printed documents relating to the
Battle of Sedgemoor in the preceding room.
